Any person may make a written complaint to the Provost about the conduct of a staff member, including in the complaint a description of the act or omission complained about. If you have received such a complaint, the AASUA is available to you for advice.

Article 20.13 of the APO Agreement: “Unused vacation time may not be carried forward from year to year without the advance written consent of the Vice-President. Salary in lieu of vacation shall be paid (in accordance with 17.03) only to staff members who have resigned, retired or been transferred to a new position.” Please contact the AASUA if you have any questions.

CAS:T members are required to be evaluated as per Article 12 of the CAS:T Agreement: “The evaluation shall take place in June or, if a staff member has a shorter period of appointment, within 60 days of the expiry date of the appointment.” and “The Department Chair shall classify performance as: a) exemplary, b) satisfactory, or c) unsatisfactory.” Please contact the AASUA if you have any questions.

TRAS medical leave entitlements are different depending on whether you have a full-time appointment of 12 months or longer, or a full-time or part-time appointment for fewer than 12 months. Please consult the TRAS Agreement and contact the AASUA if you have any questions or require assistance.

The University has confirmed that all CAS:T members should have full University library privileges with the termination date of such privileges to be four months after the end date of the contract. If you do not have access, please contact the AASUA for assistance. We are looking into library access as per the CAS:T Agreement and will keep you posted.

APO Agreement, Article 8.06: “Under certain circumstances, a staff member may accept responsibilities at the University in addition to regular responsibilities for which the staff member may receive remuneration additional to regular salary.” Please read the details in the APO Agreement and contact the AASUA if you have any questions.

CAS:T Agreement, Article 6.07.3: “A staff member shall be provided with full University library privileges, with the termination date of such privileges to be the later of the termination date of the staff member’s contract of appointment or the next following September 30.” Please contact the AASUA if you require assistance.

Academic staff under the APO, Faculty, FSO, and Librarian Agreements are entitled to medical leave under Article 23. Academic staff under the CAS:T, SOTS and TRAS Agreements are entitled to medical leave based on whether their appointments are full-time and 12 months or longer, or full-time or part-time and less than 12 months. Please consult the Agreement you fall under and contact the AASUA if you have any questions.

The Faculty Agreement requires that members are assessed for tenure and promotion based on the guidelines in place when they were hired. Those in FoMD who will be submitting their applications are advised to consult with the AASUA about the FEC Guidelines (1996 or 2007) they intend to use.

April 15 is the deadline for APOs to submit their PREPDs. A meeting between the APO and the Supervisor takes place by April 30. The purpose of the meeting is to review/modify and complete the final copy of the PREPD. If you have any questions about the process, please call AASUA.
